New Project

I am very excited to announce that I will now be illustrating two weekly columns on Massively.comThe Mog Log, about Final Fantasy XI and the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV, and A Mild-Mannered Reporter, about City of Heroes. This looks like it’s going to be a very fun project! My first illustration is already up on the Mog Log right now if you’d like to take a peek.

The most exciting part about this project is that it’s really forcing me to work in two totally different styles, since the two games have very different flavors. The Mog Log will have softer colors and more value, while A Mild-Mannered Reporter will be drawn in much bolder colors and use ziptones, much like a superhero comic.

Enjoy!

Fanart – Achewood and Persona 4 – Here Comes a Special Bear

Apologies to Chris Onstadt

I absolutely love Chris Onstadt’s wonderful comic Achewood (warning – NSFW).  Upon playing Persona 4, I kept likening Teddie to Philippe, the innocent stuffed otter.  The further I played the game, the more I realized that this comparison was faulty, but it stuck and I painted this little piece of fanart for fun over the summer.  Watercolor, with Photoshop lettering.

Handmade Books – Sewn-On Birds

In addition to illustration, I also make handmade books and paper.  This is a 3 signature, sewn book with homemade paper (pulped out of junk mail).  The swallows on the front are also made out of handmade paper, sewn on with dental floss.  (It’s strong and waxed!)
