Another Heavy Rain fanart/wallpaper, this time featuring Norman Jayden, who is the best character, end of story. Click on image for full size – it’s a 1680×1050 wallpaper.
My new obsession is the PS3 game Heavy Rain. Instead of doing work for grad school tonight, I whipped up a wallpaper featuring one of the four main, playable characters.
I was going for a real Saul Bass aesthetic here. I have great ideas for the other 3 PC’s – Madison, Ethan and Norman – but I don’t ever have any time these days.
P.S. Click on the image for full size. It’s 1680×1050, feel free to use as your personal wallpaper… but if you share it around, please credit Alex Fienemann ❤
I have been playing World of Warcraft for about four years now, and roleplaying in that arena for about three and a half. I’ve brought multiple characters to level caps – I have two level 80’s and multiple 70’s – but it seems that my WoW career is winding down.
I love telling stories with my characters, and before I say goodnight to the world’s most popular MMO, I want to immortalize each of my characters in a piece of art.
This is my draenei paladin Vrina, my very first level 80, and probably the character, when I look back, that I was the most attached to.
Vrina always wanted to be a leader, to be important. Although she was not gifted with the Farseer’s touch like her cousin Truce was, she used raw physical strength to train and find some success as a paladin. She had few holy abilities, but sheer willpower overcame this shortcoming. Rejecting the Silver Hand, Vrina started her own order, the Order of the North, which was eventually bought out and disbanded by the Argent Crusade.
Vrina finally became the hero she always wanted to be when she died in the depths of Blackrock Mountain, taking the traitorous night elf Airelle Snowkissed into the fiery lava with her.

I’m a huge Stephen King fan. Enormous. I’ve been reading his books for longer than I haven’t, having picked up my first King book, It, when I was in seventh grade. So I can’t believe I only recently read Insomnia. The imagery in the book was so evocative and beautiful that I knew well before I was halfway through the book that I had to paint the auras.
Watercolor and acrylic on coldpress watercolor paper.
Back to more Persona 4 fanart. For those of you who are wondering why there’s so darn much fanart here, I have the summers off and I play a LOT of video games and watch a LOT of shows and movies. (In addition to riding my bike and enjoying the weather – there are a LOT of hours in a day when you don’t have to work!) Anyway, I didn’t have a lot of illustration work to do this summer so I honed my skills by entertaining fans on Teh Internets. Mostly Persona 4 fans, since they enjoy quirky fanwork and hilarious stuff.
This here’s my two favorite characters from Persona 4, Adachi and Dojima, two small-town police detectives with quite the love-hate relationship. This was my first piece done entirely with Photoshop. I like the smoothness, but I missed working with the brush pen.
I absolutely love Chris Onstadt’s wonderful comic Achewood (warning – NSFW). Upon playing Persona 4, I kept likening Teddie to Philippe, the innocent stuffed otter. The further I played the game, the more I realized that this comparison was faulty, but it stuck and I painted this little piece of fanart for fun over the summer. Watercolor, with Photoshop lettering.
Another piece of Lost fanart I did over the summer. The “Dharma Burgers” comic was received well by the fan community. This was looked at with extreme confusion. I drew this when I was desperately trying to catch up on Lost and watching about three episodes a day while I was working on my art. I think I may have dreamed this image one night, so I had to draw it.
Two characters from the Warcraft universe – the bear (a Tauren druid) is mine, and the undead mage is one of my boyfriend’s. I haven’t been playing much lately – Dragon Age has had me in a stranglehold – but I still have the fondest of memories! Watercolor, ink and gouache.
